The Texas vs. Hernandez case was a Supreme Court case that occurred during the post-World War 2 period. It became a landmark case for the United States because it was the only Mexican American civil rights case that was brought up to the Supreme Court. Their ruling had been a unanimous vote stating that Mexican Americans and all other nationality groups in the United States had equal protection of themselves in the United States under the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution. The reason for Hernandez to appear before the court was because he had been deprived of his equal protection of the law under the Fourteenth Amendment, as juries were dismissing him away because of his ethnicity. Hernandez then got his lawyers to appeal to the Texas Supreme Court. They had decided to appeal to the United States Supreme Court through a writ of certiorari. The lawyers had decided to challenge the concept of “the systematic exclusion of person of Mexican origin from all types of jury duty in at least seventy countries in Texas.” They appealed
