Camila Diaz May 11, 2017 Recycling at Keurig Green Mountain: A Brewing Problem Case Assignment Questions 1. How big of a problem is the bad press the company is receiving for its K-Cups? Why? I would’ve said no, reading “A Brewing Problem 1 ”, however, after founding some more updated information, I would say it is mainly because the circumstances allow it. Keurig’s sales were rapidly increasing a few years ago due to several circumstantial reasons: the recession, meaning people were opting for a cheaper/more practical way to drink coffee that didn’t entail going out to a coffee shop. However, their patent expired and “off-brand K-Cups” hit the markets so they came up with Keurig 2.0, which only works with K-Cups. This attempt backfired as other pods were recyclable and cheaper.
