Advanced Placement Literature and Composition Tennant 2017 Summer Reading & Writing Welcome to AP English Literature and Composition! Summer reading and writing serve several purposes, and the most important may be making a deliberate and thoughtful first impression. This assignment is also critical for adding to your arsenal of works to draw upon for successful participation in the essay questions on the AP exam. Interacting with rigorous texts this summer will help you keep sharp the critical reading and analytical writing skills you have developed thus far. Seize this opportunity. A significant portion of your first term grade depends upon it. Join Class on Google Classrooms Due: Before leaving school in May 2017 You will turn in assignments electronically this summer as well as during the next school year. Make sure your opelikaschools.org email account has been activated and is in working order. While logged into your Opelika account, you may access the Classrooms app. You may also download the app to a mobile device. Use the class code spzv7ym to join the class. All documents for the summer reading assignment will be available through Google Classrooms; your personal essay will be turned in through Google Classrooms; and this will be one way to communicate with me throughout the summer. Part I: Write a Reflective Personal Essay Due: July 1, 2017 More than likely, you are college bound. Let’s kill two birds with one stone. You will draft an essay in response to one of the six Common Application prompts used by many college admissions office around the country. I will become familiar with your writing, and you will have a draft you can revise for another
