In the history of the World, many new ideas and thoughts came in the 18 th century. The well renowned Jean-Jacques Rousseau, made an impact on our way of thinking even back then. In Rousseau's article "A Discourse On Inequality", he looks into the question of where the general inequality amongst men came from. Inequality exists economically, structurally, amongst different generations, genders, races, and in almost all other areas of society. Rousseau came to the conclusion that the best way to examine the inequality in society is to examine the beginning of mankind itself. In the 18 th century there were many cultural changing events, such as The French and American Revolution. The French and American revolutions are both very significant in the world’s history. The American Revolution happened first, around the last half of the 18th century where the Thirteen Colonies became the United States of America, and gained independence from the British Empire. The French revolution on the other hand, was from 1789 until the turn of the century 1799. For the French people this was a period of political and social turmoil.
