Steve Hughey ISS 335 1/22/08 Movie Review – Hajj This National Geographic documentary of the Islamic tradition of making a once- in-a-lifetime pilgrimage to Mecca, or Hajj, shines much light upon the often- misunderstood subject.  The crew documents the spiritual journeys of three Muslims  with radically different ethnic backgrounds before, during and after their pilgrimages.  Ismail is an executive from Malaysia whose journey cleanses his spirit of misdeeds.  Fidelma is a woman from Texas whom seeks both forgiveness and acceptance.  Khalil  is a South African radio commentator, making the pilgrimage because he loves God and  because he wants to participate in such a mass spiritual cleansing.  All three experience  the ups and downs of joy, introspection and divine communication during the weeklong  event. The documentary did a wonderful job of highlighting the incredible ethnic
