Led England with the Parliament during the Interregnum (1649-1660), after Charles Is death and before Charles IIs rule. Usually portrayed as military dictator; however, that is a somewhat unjust portrayal. Treaty of Westphalia (1648) ended the 30YW. Netherlands gained inde from Spain.
