Understand the nature of the strategic management process. 2. Describe the concepts of vision and mission statements and their role in the strategic management process. 3. Explain the process involved in conducting an external strategic management audit. 4. Explain the process involved in conducting an internal strategic management audit. 5. Identify types of strategies and means of achieving them. 6. Identify the process involved in strategy analysis and choice. 7. Explain the process involved in strategy analysis and choice. 8. Describe the process of evaluating strategies. 9. Describe how to present and prepare a case. 10. Apply and integrate the various strategic management concepts and analytical methods to real-life management situations in food and beverage, foodservice, travel, and hotel and motel multinational enterprises. 11. Review discussion questions at the end of each chapter. 12. Review your case assignment and provide a strategy 13. Be proactive in a classroom discussion environment. Text: David, F. R. (2008). Group Case Analysis Project The course has strategic management principles that will be studied during the semesters. The chapters will present these principles in detail and will give you an understanding of the steps used in the strategic management process. The goal is to use the knowledge gained in the chapters in developing a business and corporate competitive strategy that will enhance the company’s financial performance and competitive advantage.

There will be individual groups assigned to each hospitality case. Please begin to familiarize yourself with your assigned case. The groups and case assignments are presented in Table 1, and the specific case analysis steps are presented in Table 2. The format used in preparing a case analysis is presented in Part 5: Strategic Management Case Analysis: How to Prepare and Present a Case Analysis, pp. 320 to 332 in the textbook. Please read the material relative to case analysis and presentation. and complete over the course of the semester each of the steps outlined on page 325 in
