Methods of Psychology Basic Goal- Increase understanding of the psychological world through systematic collection and analysis of objective, publicly observe data. (page 25) Pieces of information Scores on tests would be data (something objective that you can put in form of number) What science is not… 1. Not defined by subject matter- (i.e. hurricanes and honeybees). Physical phenomenon, all stuff that is open to scientific research. 2. Not defined by technique- 3. Not always correct- often wrong 4. Not always objective – confirmation bias (people to seek out evidence to support research) not really looking for things that don’t go along with their theory. Science is an approach- Steps- 1. Come up with a question Teach Evolution in schools? Stricter control of guns? Increase education funds? Are these the questions that can be answered through research? NO these are too opinion based. There needs to be a more specific question.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
