The culture I want to talk about today is the one of the homeless culture, the invisible culture. In
America, many people have been homeless for quite a while.
Some have been homeless for decades
and they live in a world that is alien than to the one that we live.
Before I can talk about an aim that a nurse could take, I think this would be a great time to talk
about autonomy. Sometimes when dealing with people, we like to impose our thoughts and dreams on
them. I might say to a person “don’t you want a house and a car.” I am only saying that because those are
things that I value. When speaking to someone of a different culture sometime values are not shared. I
need to know the possible difference between me and someone of a different culture. In the homeless
culture, many people are more comfortable living outside in tents. They might like the personal freedom
that may come with living without a permanent fixture. This is not to say that all homeless feels the
same way, but some do.
