Preface This book was born out of the need to offer a comprehensive explanation of Treasury and Risk Management concepts. Whilst it is based on universal principles, the material is focussed toward the Australian and the Singaporean environment. A deliberate objective is to provide a concise explanation; this allows the reader time to take in each theme without losing sight of the main subject matter. To those who have listened to lectures, presentations and seminars, the key element of Risk Management is to maintain the value of the portfolio, investment or holding whilst minimising any associated costs at times in uncertain conditions. A reasonably simple yet powerful objective follows from this – set-out a risk management strategy that can cater for such uncertainty. And at times, not so simple. The book is set-out in the following order: Chapter One sets the scene that begins with a summary of the Australian Financial System; an explanation of Treasury and the motivations behind an area that is considered central to any business; following on with an overview of Risk Management combined with an explanation on relevant measures of risk.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
