7.1INTRODUCTIONThe objective of this research is to create a hypothetical framework of knowledgemanagement practices-based Operational Efficiency of the organization and to pragmaticallyimplement the model in oil and gas context in the UAE. A concise of the six chapters shown inthe thesis is given as follows:First, chapter one offers a detailed overview of the study and articulates the primaryresearch questions namely:Question one:What are the basic dimensions for determinants of Operational Efficiency ofan organization?Question two:Is there any relationship between organizational culture (OC) and knowledgemanagement (KM) practices' implementation?Question three:How does the organizational culture (OC) and knowledge managementpractices affect on the operational efficiency (OE) in the oil and gas industry? To answer these key inquisitions, chapter two points out the existing knowledge gaps byreviewing existing research work on KM, OC and OE using BSC’s perspectives. Next in chapterthree the interrelationship among the components has been studied and discussed as well as theintermediate of KMP based OE; based on the resource-based view of the firm along with humancapital theory blended with knowledge based view, organizational knowledge-creation theoryand the knowledge-creation’s SECI model, four KM approach, alongside system thinking theory, and transaction cost theory with BSC approach. A theoretical framework and six hypotheses arecreated to answer the research questions identified in Chapter one.1
After that, chapter four defines the research design used to examine the researchhypotheses and the theoretical model, and provides valid explanations on the selection of thisdesign. The operationalization of fifty-four variables and the pilot’s design of research and vastscholarly works employed to examine the biggest offshore oil and gas company in Abu Dhabi’sremote areas, UAE are drawn. This chapter also talks about the data analysis methodologies aswell as the possible ethical considerations. Then, chapter five conveys the findings of the preliminary survey, and shows thedescriptive statistics as well as the analytical methods for the main research. The two-step SEMtechnique is employed utilizing the statistic software: Amos version 20.0, to rate the theoreticalframework and examine the research hypotheses advanced in Chapter three3. Next, Chapter six discusses the findings of the data analysis, drawing a relation withprevious studies and discussing the theoretical basis that has been drawn for each hypothesisrelated to the three research questions outlined in chapter two and three. This last chapter foresees the final conclusion and implication of the study. It starts withthe practical implications and a discussion of theoretical contribution and the practicalimplications, denotes how this research has efficiently assisted the existing knowledge body aswell as the exercise of organizational improvement operational efficiency, one case study of
