1B September 7, 2014 The Inheritance of Loss In Kiran Desai’s book she writes it in third person omniscient. This allowed Desai to freely move through time and space quickly while being able to show what many people are thinking at the same time. Another reason for this is that it allows her to take on many other perspectives for the readers to look through, By her writing in such a way permits her to spit out much more information much faster and therefore making it easier for the reader to get to the realization of what Desai is trying to get across to them. With this technique the readers are able to know and see everything about the characters and therefore be able to create a stronger relationship and bond with them more. The style of the Inheritance of Loss was rather disorganized. This is because I often found myself being confused about what time the characters were in, where they were, who was talking at the time, and I had to go back over the passage several times and I sometimes still wouldn’t get it.
