Chapter 2 Espoused values: Values stated by a company that a manager makes that employees should follow. Values are listed in order they wanted to be carried out or by importance Enacted values: Represent values and norms that actually are exhibited in employee behavior Functions of Organizational behavior: 1. Give members an organizational identity. Ex. Southwest airline is a fun place to work 2. Facilitate collective commitment – have everyone be dedicated to customer service 3. Promote social system stability – environment is perceived as positive and reinforcing, little conflict 4. Shape Behavior by making workers aware of their surroundings – Ex.
