E LEMENTS OF U NIT A SSIGNMENTS E SSAYS AND U NIT A SSIGNMENTS This course consists of four units; and instructions for the unit as a whole – the essay topics, general timetable, and elements of each unit – are located in this section of your Course Packet. Specific instructions will be given at the beginning of each unit. Essays will be submitted at the beginning of the class period. When you submit your essay, all assigned and reviewed drafts, and the peer evaluation responses are to be stapled to the back of the essay. E SSAY G UIDELINES Writing in this course is intended to prepare you to write academic essays. Although the essays may comprise various forms, the following components should be incorporated in all your essays. A separate title page An argument or thesis Convincing use of concrete evidence with quotations from texts Introduction and Conclusion Works Cited page (Even if you only mention the primary text, it needs to be cited.
