MILESTONE ONE 2 With lots of patients getting sicker everyday requiring long term treatment coupled with patients having veins which are difficult to access and tired of being poked with needles every day for blood draws, more physicians are also ordering a Central Line. However convenient this lines to the patient and to the nurses, these lines also posed risk for infection being these catheters are open into the body. I chose to research on this topic since the hospital that I worked with just recently use the disinfecting port protectors or caps to cover the catheter ports and know more on how effective this caps in preventing infection compared to just the alcohol swabs. Prior to the use of disinfecting port protectors or caps, nurses only use alcohol swabs and change the needleless connectors to prevent infection or patients getting CLABSI (Central Line
