Nancy Hemmen ISEN220-501 10/21/08 HW #5: The Goal Part2 Al flies up to New York to meet with Jonah for breakfast and Jonah gives him about two phenomena that are in ever plant. The first is dependent events, which means that and event or series of events most happen before another can begin. The second is statistical fluctuations where information will vary from one instance to the next. Johan leaves Al to think about these and figure out what they mean for himself. When he gets back he has to take his son for an overnight Boy Scout trip, and the troop leader is sick so he is the only parent in charge. The boys walk down the trail in a line where Al soon starts to make the analogy to the phenomena that Jonah gave him in New York. He notices that gaps are starting to occur through the line even though the boys are moving at a relatively equal pace, but he seems to be getting farther and farther away from the leader of the line.
