In the result of getting caught the company was responsible to pay billions in settlements and damages to their brand. Being a big regarded company this scandal became the biggest business ethic story of the year. Lying to regulators and to their customers about a key aspect of its car’s performance. By being dishonest to their consumers it causes their reputation to take a hit. Per kansascity.com,” They were equipped with software that turned on their pollution control systems when they were being tested but largely disabled them when they were actually on the road. Thus, the cars — Jetta’s, Golfs, Passat’s, Beetles and Audi A3s manufactured in various years — got great fuel efficiency on the road (north of 40 miles a gallon) but spewed nitrogen oxide at levels 40 times the federal limit[Kan16].” Im sure when consumer saw that the gas mileage that they were getting with these vehicles seem amazing but it was causing harm to the earth in the end. Many would ask is it a big enough issue to be concerned about and as Volkswagen really in the wrong by allowing this to occur without consumer’s knowledge, Although, I am not a consumer of a Volkswagen vehicle with
