P. 37 #1-3, 5 1. The physical objects that people create and use form a group's material culture. Abstract hu- man creations form a group's nonmaterial culture. 2. Using items of material culture, particularly tools, requires various skills, which are part of nonmaterial culture. Sociologists sometimes refer to this combination of objects and rules as technology. 3. The Yanomamö are farmers who live in villages along the border between Brazil and Venezuela. Conflicts within the village usually cause groups to split off and form new settle- ments. Most instances of warfare occur between villages that were originally part of the same settlement. In contrast, the way of life of the San people of Southern Africa is based on cooperation. They have their own territories and they take great care not to trespass on the lands of others. 5. Folkways are rules that describe how you can act in society but are not moral. Mores are rules that describe how you can act in society, but are moral.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
