Harris 1 Sterling Harris Ginger Fox English 111-170 September 2 nd , 2014 Environmentally Risky Many say that fracking is polluting the lives of many around it. “Fracking has been reported as environmentally risky” said by Josh Fox who wrote and documented the movie Gasland . Fracking has been reported to the government by many, because of its effects to the people that live around it. There were many issues that were asked with the fracking. Those issues were the health issues, environmental problems. Finance, safety, morality, and what the politicians were thinking. What is fracking? Fracking, or “Hydraulic Fracturing,” is putting pressure into the ground in order to get natural gas. Now the idea does not sound too bad, but what it does to the people that live around it is no good. In the movie Gasland people were complaining about their water and how it had become contaminated with chemicals from fracking. Now fracking supposedly a good thing for the country, but how can it be good if it is contaminating the people who live around the water supply? In the movie, many people showed how their water looked with the contamination. Some people’s water was a little brownish, some samples were completely brown, and some people’s water was black. If you looked closely to some of the people’s water, you could see that it was bubbling. Now everybody should know that their water should not be black or brown, let along bubbling.
