Chapter 7 Self-Review 31/03/2008 02:52:00 Unemployment     : The total number of adults who are willing and able to work and  who are actively looking for work but have not found a job. Labor Force     : Individuals aged 16 or older who either have jobs or who are  looking and available for jobs. (# employed + # unemployed) Stock: the quantity of something, measured at a given point in time Flow: A quantity measured per unit of time. Categories of the unemployed: Job Loser: An individual in the labor force whose employment was  involuntarily terminated Reentrant: worked full time before but has been out of labor force Job Leaver: voluntarily ended employment New entrant: never worked a full time job before Discouraged Workers     : individuals who have stopped looking for a job because  they are convinced they will not find a suitable one. Labor force participation rate     : the percentage of noninstitutionalized working-age  individuals who are employed or are seeking employment. Major Types of Unemployment
