11-17-08 General Terms:  Early Empire, 27 BC- AD 96  Augustus, ruled 27 BC- AD 14  High Empire, AD 96-192  Trajan, ruled AD 98- 117    Building Types:  Forum  - the public space in the middle of a Roman city. Basilica  - Roman public building (as in Greece, mainly a tribunal), usually located  in the forum of a Roman town Macellum  - indoor market building that sold mostly provisions (especially fruits  and vegetables). The building normally sat alongside the forum and basilica,  providing a place in which a market could be held. Curia   - Roman senate      Key terms   Taberna   - single room shop covered by a barrel vault within great indoor markets  of ancient Rome    Arch  – example forum of Trajan, Arch of Trajun – curved ceiling in architecture.    Vault- Barrel
