DIGITAL DESIGN I: EXPERIMENT #7 RIPPLE-CARRY ADDER DESIGN Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to design a Full Adder block and utilize this block to create a 4-bit unsigned Ripple Carry Adder (RCA). References 1) Digital Systems: Principles and Applications, Chapter 9 and 13 2) Altera Quartus II Tutorial 3) DE2 Pin Assignments Materials Required Altera DE2 board, AC adapter, and USB interface cable Prelab (to be checked by the TA at the BEGINNING of your lab class) [30 points] 1) Follow the steps below to design the Full Adder block in Quartus II and utilize this block to create a 4-bit unsigned RCA. 1. Make the Truth Table for Sum and Carry-out outputs of Full Adder. 2. Get the SOP equations using Kmaps for both outputs. 3. Implement the Circuit for Sum and Carry using basic logic gates. Your Full Adder will have 3 inputs, A, B, C, and 2 outputs, Sum (S) and Carry-out (Co). 4. Using vector waveform editor simulate the Full Adder in Quartus II for all 8 input combinations. 5.
