Governance of Ju 1. Band society a. No one individual owns the land, group owns/is responsible for area around a designated waterhole b. (111) The Ju groups do have leaders who may develop considerable influence in group decisions. These leaders work in subtle ways; they are modest in demeanor and may never command, but only suggest, a course of action. c. Governance is an important tool to keep social structures winin a society intact. The style of governance varies greatly from one social group to the next. The Dove Ju govern in a collective manor. No one person is in charge of making decisions for everyone. It can be argued that everyone in the group matters. d. Ownership i. The land and recorces owned by a group is called n!ore ii. Groups of people own the land not individuals called K”ausi (owners). iii. The group makes decisions on who outside the K”ausi can use the land. iv. The principal of reciprocity allows for one group to use other n!ore with consent from the K”ausi v. Every Ju/”hansi has the right to at n!ore
