ASTR 1010 Introductory Astronomy: Solar System Review Sheet for Mid-Term 3 – Wed Nov 7 th in class 9-9.50am There will be review sessions during the 1 st half of labs (finish up Optics for 2 nd half) for the week of Tues Oct30th through Friday Nov 2nd – bring your text book and notes to the lab – plus questions you want the lab TA/LAs to go over. Use the Study Sessions run by the Learning Assistants – they are here to help you! BRING: Pencil, eraser, 1 “cheat sheet” (2-sides, 8.5” x 11”) of notes – calculator optional. The exam will be very similar to MT1 & 2 (5 pages of multiple-choice questions). 1 page will be repeat or variations on questions from MT2. So, study the answers to MT2 – lots of students had problems with NVK3L and with the difference between force of gravity and the acceleration due to gravity. Additional review material here. Note that you can write all the formulae on your cheat-sheet – but you not going to need to “plug and chug” numbers into a formula – rather you will be expected to know how the formula works – e.g., for F=MA, if you double M what happens to F… Reading from Cosmic Perspectives (Bennett et al.) 4 th edition. By Mid-Term 3 – Ch 7,8,9: Pages 200-222, 226-243, 246-282
