Andrew Craycraft September 4, 2017 AST195 - Lab 4 – Celestial Mechanics with Stellarium Find the icon for Stellarium and start the program. Press F11 or find the icon in the bottom left tool tray to get out of “Full Screen Mode”. On your first use of the software, the first thing you would like to do is change your location. Go to the left tool tray with your mouse pointer and click the top icon (should look a compass star). F6 also works here. Make sure your location is set to your home town. For reference Paducah is at 37o 4’ 60’’ North and 86o 36’ 00 ’’ West. You can also find the latitude and longitude of your home town through Google and use those. You may find it convenient to check the box “Use as default” Close the location window now. You should see the afternoon/night sky as viewed from Paducah at the current time. Click the 3rd icon from the left tray – Sky and Viewing Options (F4 also works here). Click over to the Markings tab. In the window that says Celestial Sphere make sure that Equatorial Grid, Equator Line, Ecliptic Line, and Cardinal Points are all checked. You should recall what the first three
