During the novels “The Bean Trees” and “Pigs In Heaven” both by Barbara Kingsolver.Certain literary elements such as conflict,foreshadowing,and imagery are used throughout both of these novels.The theme of it takes a village to raise a child is represented in bean trees and pigs in heaven.Both novels follow the life of Taylor a single mother and her daughter Turtle.These pieces of litecure show that even though one of these books came out in 1988 and the other 1993 the idea that blood does not just make you a family is evident in both. Taylor and Turtle face major conflicts such as Taylor realizing that she could possible lose turtle.She realizes that she has to find a job and home to support her and Turtle which turned out to be a lot harder than she suspected..Custody conflicts between Annawake and Taylors is consistent throughout the second novel which relates to the theme of it taking a village to raise a child.Americans and Cherokees have a different views on family which causes conflict which
