After reading week 4 I found it very interesting the comparisons between colonial and guest workers. Colonial workers were citizens of a former colonial authority and often moved spontaneously but once they came in they had civil and political rights and most intended to stay permanently. Guest workers were foreign workers who were not citizens and had severely restricted rights. I found it fascinating that both were treated the same whether they came here legally or not, both were treated poorly and both were affected by marginalization leading to a degree of separation from rest of the population....
