Case 1 … rail towards switch, on one side one man tied to tracks, on other side 5 tied to the tracks… you would pull the switch to kill one to save 5……. Case 2 …you could put an object in front of the rails to stop the train…you only have a large man… you push him in front to save the 5. Case 3 … the track is longer… you have the switch to kill one person so that the train de rails after killing the one man…to save 5 people. . Claim: There is no moral difference between case 1 and case 2? Objection… In case 1, it isn’t our intentional plan to kill anyone. But in case & 2, the killing of the man is a part of our intentional plan. In case 3 as well we have to Counter Objection…. 2… fallacy of composition… EXAMPLE – Every part of this machine is lightweight…therefore the machine is lightweight………. .fallacy to move from property of part to property of machine One beer in 12 pack will not get me drunk, so 12 beers aren’t going to get me drunk. .
