o One side was to vote yes for leaving the U.K., the other side was to vote no

 In June 2016, 52% voted to leave the European Union
 Britain will be leaving the E.U.
o This matter because Scotland voted to stay in the E.U.
o They’re already negotiating how Scotland can stay in the E.U.
