In this TED talk, Richard Turere, a young inventor from Kenya, describes how he came about creating “lion lights”. Lions all throughout Kenya feed on the cattle of villages, destroying the all-important livestock that these villages value. Richard’s own family also dealt with this issue and Richard sought to devise a solution to reduce the lion attacks. Through trial and error, Richard discovered lions fear moving light and so, Richard built a solar powered flashing light system with different electric part scraps.
