Shaun Scott Business Ethics November 12, 2016 Drop Box 2 Who Was Immanuel Kant German philosopher Immanuel Kant, was a part of the Enlightenment era of the late 18 th century. He was best known for his writing. His most popular work would be the Critique of Pure Reason. Born April 22, 1724, in Konigsberg, Prussia now known as Kaliningrad, Russia. He was the fourth of nine children born to Johann Georg Cant and Anna Regina Cant. The reason that Immanuel didn’t have the same spelling as his parents last name was because he wanted to change his name to Kant to adhere to German spelling practices. Per the Biography, “Kant’s parents both were devoted followers of pietism, an 18 th century of branch of the Lutheran Church. Seeing the potential in Immanuel, a local pastor arranged for him to attend school[Bio16].” Will in school that is where he gains his passion for Latin classic. In 1740, Kant attended University of Konigsberg where he studied theology. But soon after he was attracted to mathematics and physics.
