Reviews: Thursday, Oct. 7'h and Thursday, Nov. 4th (2:30 — 3:30 PM in Labs 067 / 068). Homework: Solving problems is the onlyproven way to learn organic chemistry!! Weekly problem sets (ungraded) will be distributed. You are expected to work through these problem sets on your own time. Be prepared to discuss solutions to the problem sets during weekly recitation sessions. Exams: Quizzes: Quizzes will be held in—class (first 5—10 minutes of class) on Tuesdays, Sept. 14“, Sept. 21“, Oct. 5*, Oct. 26‘“, Nov. 30", and Dec. 7‘“. Prelims: Sunday. Oct. 10‘“, Sunday, Nov. 7m (2:00 PM ~— 3:30 PM) Final Exam: Dec. 16, 2004 (3 hour comprehensive exam covering all material) Grading: Quizzes: 20%; Prelims (2): 40%; Final Exam: 40% Note 1: Your best 5 out of 6 quizzes will count toward your quiz total of 20% (ie. 5 quizzes x 4% each = 20% total). Note 2: There are no make-ups for missed quizzes or exams. An unexcused absence 'will result in a grade of zero for that exam. Any excused absence or absence due to illness must be cleared in advance with .Drs. Smith or Pungente. in such a case, the grade for the missed prelim is transferred directly to the value of the final exam.
