Carley Zimmerman FCE 225 Assignment-Chapter 4 1. What are some of the complications that might arise during labor and delivery of neonatal? What are some of the procedures/technologies used to alleviate these complications? a. Some complications that may occur during labor and delivery are : i. When the baby is positioned irregularly. Usually the baby is head down facing the mother’s backside. Depending on how the baby is positioned, the doctor can sometimes rearrange the baby’s position to make it in the usual position, which is a procedure called “version”. However, if this can not be done, a surgery known as a “cesarean section” must be done instead of vaginally. ii. Another complication is if the baby has an abnormal heart rate. If the heart rate is faster than normal, it most of the time means that the baby is in fetal distress and is handled by changing the mother’s position, giving her oxygen, or increasing her intake of fluids.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
