Authoritarian government: form of government where leaders (who admit no limit to their powers) are effectively limited by other centers of power in the society Autocracy: a form of government in which absolute control rests with a single person Capitalism: government based on principle that government should interven as little as possible with economic transactions (free-enterprise and self-reliance are the collective and individual principles that underpin capitalism) Communism: economic system in which the government owns all or most major industries and takes responsibility for overall management of the economy Constitutionalism: there are definable limits on the rightful power of government over its citizens Democracy: a form of government where the people govern either directly or through elected representatives Diversity: principle that individual and group differences should be respected and are a source of national strength Equality: idea that all people are equal in their moral worth, political voice, and treatment
