Page 400, Questions 1-2 1. The 1977 legislation regarding the Canadian Human Rights Act that prohibits discrimination in any workplace was a great start into equality for women as the concept to receive equal pay for both men and women for doing the same work was enacted. The Canada Labour Act also allowed women to take a 17 week maternity leave so the don’t have to leave their careers and jobs behind due to having a child. The legislation passed on 1983 prohibits any sort of discrimination of women who identify as pregnant, marital or have a family status. The legislation passed under the employment equity act in 1986 was passed to eliminate discrimination any historic and systemic discrimination of women who identify as indigenous, visibly minorities, and have a disability etc. 2. In my opinion, the measures that were taken in order to create a more equality environment for women in the workplace have lead to a significant improvement between gender inequality. The legislations that have been passed in the efforts to create a more equitable place for women has allowed women to feel more protected and more included in the workplace as their job, salary and dignity are more secure. Women now know that they have rights in the workplace and can speak and stand up for themselves without fearing the loss of their job. Page 405, Questions 1-4 (#3 is skipped cuz had to make a chart) 1) Personally I believe employers should be allowed to test their employees for drugs and alcohol but only if they have suspicions on their workers. Not all employees should be tested but for example, if a worker’s productivity is not meeting the expectations or they are having lots of problems at work, employers should be allowed to test them.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
