Blessings: Good things in life o Divided into 3 categories: Soul: Body: Externals: o A person is wholly blessed, if they have good things in all these categories Zena (?) External good: Comes from a lite family Body good: Beauty Soul good: self-control, from his education of virtue o A.k.a. he is blessed Most people thought that all 3 categories were blessings: blessed in all 3 Cynic’s view is different: o Apparent in letter to Crates (student of Diogenes) o Care only for your soul, care for your body only as much as necessary, just enough to keep it together o As for externals, not even that much o Blessings of body & externals are set aside & the only blessings that count are those of the soul
