Michael Lindman 810812868 BCOR 1010-204 Log Assignment #1 Apple has announced a $200 price cut on its newly released Iphone. The company announced this shortly after their stock dropped $7.40 abruptly. Apple claims to be issuing this price cut as an attempt to make the phone more affordable to consumers during the holiday season, and hoping by next season to have sold enough phones to hold distribute 1% of all cellular phones in the world. The company claims this price cut should not hurt its profit; it should only help provoke sales and increase earnings. From a producer stand point I am in full appreciation of this move. As we hone in on the holiday season, the newly made more affordable phone sales should sky rocket due to the fact that now nearly any consumer is able to afford the phone. I believe this company will make more money from lowering prices than it would have if it kept the prices the same because other cell phone companies are beginning to make their own versions of the Iphone . Now, Apple has put the price the same as the other companies, and because of the name Apple , people will be much more willing to buy the Apple Iphone than any other similar phone on the market. This price cut also, obviously, is attractive to the consumer. From a consumer’s stand point, the once over priced Iphone is now affordable to most. This should make for an incredible gift right before the holiday season, which should provoke millions of people to go out and buy the phone as a gift. I believe Apple’s marketing scheme for this product should, in no way, hurt the company’s profits, if anything it will drastically increase them.
