Hyun Woo Sung Chem 112 Laboratory Lab Report #4 Introduction: The purpose of this lab was to titrate two different polyprotic acids, which were citric acid and phosphoric acid, with sodium hydroxide, and use the data to create a titration curve graph. Using the graph, the acid dissociation constant of each acid can then be determined by using the equivalence point, which is the point on the graph where the pH increases sharply. Since each equivalence point from the polyprotic acids are all similar in terms of the volume of base added, half of that volume from one equivalence point to another will inevitably lead to the half equivalence point, where the pH equals the pKa.
