Reactions in Aqueous Solutions Objective: To identify individual ions in a mixture of compounds through a series of chemical reactions and qualitative analysis. Pre-lab Questions: Pre-lab questions were attached on the first page. Introduction: Qualitative analysis is a type of analysis which determine what substances are present in a sample. . Since it is very important for a chemist to be able to identify individual ions in a mixture of compounds, qualitative analysis requires knowledge of the chemical behavior of these ions in the presence of different reagents. In this experiment, we should know the reaction of five different metal ions with four different reagents. The five metal cations are Mg 2+ , Ni 2+ , Cr 3+ , Zn 2+ , and Ag + ; and the four different reagents are 0.1M HCl, 0.1M NaOH, 6M NaOH, and 6M NH 4 OH. Using these ions and reagents, we can determine the chemical behavior of these ions in the different reagents.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
