Outline I. Opening paragraph a. Hook – One famed Greek philosopher by the name of Socrates once said, “Beware the barrenness of a busy life.” b. Add in a “picture this” moment so that the reader can put themselves in a family in which life is extremely busy i. Picture this: You’re a forty-something parent with three children all in different stages of adolescence. You wake up every morning with ten minutes to drink coffee before the chaos begins: take all the kids to school, make sure they don’t forget their math homework on their desk, get to work on time, pick the kids up in time, take all of them to sports practice, make dinner, go to sleep, and repeat. In writing, this may seem like a normal, maybe even happy, family. However, any family who goes through this is well aware that a busy schedule only brings stress and disorganization. Now there is a question to be answered—How is this healthy? Americans are a constantly busy species and this is the issue that leads to health problems, depression, and premature aging (WebMD).
