Mental illness can cause many sleep abnormalities and give a person nightmares and insomnia due to the lack of sleep. College students have stress on them and having little to no sleep can play a big part into their mental state. Lund et al found that students who have trouble sleeping had more health problems (Nyer, M., 1.). Lack of sleep has been associated with a person’s emotions being rewired and not regulated as stated by Pickett, Barbaro, and Mello (2.)
