Short Paper Three (SP3): Research Summaries Mechanics: minimum 4 entries (about 3 pages), double-spaced, Times or similar, 12 point, 1” margins, MLA format This assignment is meant to do two things: 1. Start your research for your Research Paper 2. Practice summarizing information (also necessary for your Research Paper) Whether you are researching a topic or researching for a topic, finding sources and summarizing them is an important step to building an argument. Researching and processing information into summaries are also skills necessary for most classes and many jobs. If you don’t quite know your topic yet, find sources about stereotypes in general or a particular interest you have to help you narrow your topic. Researching and seeing what other scholars have to say can be a great way to settle on a topic. If you already know what you want to write about, then find 4 sources that might help build your argument. These sources can hopefully be what you use in your Research Paper but we also have another library session during which you might find more specific sources for your more specific claim. For this writing assignment, 1. Find four potential sources for your Research Paper – 2 Background and 2 Argument (as defined in the BEAM Method of research).
