4 STRATEGIC IDEA GENERATION METHODS: 1) FOLLOWING AND CAPITALIZING ON DISRUPTIVE TECHNIQUES: - Predicting technological disruptions or step-changes and their impact on idea generation or business is essential to a an organizations survival in terms of innovation. - Are a threat to an incumbent firm and a source of opportunity for those that see these disruptions coming. - The approach is to monitor technological changes, to identify potential radical or step- changes in technological trends and adapt and to define resulting new product ideas. - It makes sense but in theory disruptive technology is not an everyday occurrence, and not a prolific source of idea generation. 2) PATENT MAPPING: - Involves mapping or mining for patents to see the current trends in innovation and technology to see if there is potential for a new idea or product to be introduced onto the market. - Useful for identifying areas of competitive activities and potential area of focus.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
