In this experiment, we learned to measure the gas production of a chemical reaction by a pressure change. Also, to determine the universal gas constant R. And finally, to determine the precision and accuracy of your measurement. Method of the experiment: Total pressure is equal to the sum of the partial pressures of all the gases in a system. If we start with a stoppered flask (no gases can escape or enter the flask), the pressure should stay constant. And if we add a gas, the pressure should increase. The change of pressure will be due to the partial pressure of the hydrogen gas. In this experiment, we measured the change in pressure after the chemical reaction began that produced hydrogen gas. From our data, we determined the P, V, n, and T of the hydrogen gas produced. Procedure: Obtain a 0.030 gram of magnesium ribbon (it’s about 1 inch). To remove any gray

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
