Hypoth esis When given a survey pointed towards either a man or woman, it will be considered ‘normal’ for women to spend time/care of their appearance, and ‘abnormal’ for men.

Abstract: We created a survey to determine whether people believe that men or women care more about their appearance. We hypothesized that people consider it the ‘social norm’ that women care more about appearance than men.

past research: 1st research:” MEN, APPEARANCE, AND COSMETIC SURGERY” It was reported that men felt that cosmetic surgery might improve their appearance and make it easier to meet women. 2nd research: “ Gender differences in weight-related and non-weight- related appearance concerns in a community sample” Averaged that women cared more about their appearance (stomach, thighs, and overall weight)than men overall.
