What data is required?
Based on the answers, decide whether a numerical, text only or text
w/ graphics represents the information most appropriately
Organize report
Understand the difference between findings, conclusions and
recommendations
Direct method – Using only conclusions and recommendations
Indirect – Appropriate when the audience is more resistant to
recommendations.
Outline the report
Determine the major & minor points to cover – It is helpful to create a working draft as you
work through the report.
Create headings/subtopics
Try to keep sections even
Draft report
Introduction - should elaborate on the question being asked and stage the findings.
Findings – Interpretation of data, presented in a clear, concise manner
Include supporting visual aides when appropriate
