Running header: 7.4 Social Media Communications 2 In the United States almost every company utilizes social media to conduct business. Businesses invest money into social media sites to build their brand. Businesses also buy ads and post them to Facebook which has been popular since the early part of 2000’s. Social media is defined as websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Social media is also used to help business with marketing and to find different avenues to increase sales. Before social media people utilize ads to find jobs and the best deals now since Facebook has come along many people utilize Facebook for sources and networking. Throughout my paper I will focus on the usefulness of social media in communications, compare and contrast, and also come up with a communication strategy. I believe that social media is important with companies because it makes it easier to promote the company. A lot of companies are branded by word of mouth and or looking in the newspaper. However since social media has become popular such as YouTube, Facebook, and just different websites it makes it easier for people to apply for a position and learn about the jobs. It is also convenient for the owner and or human resource person to learn about a future employee they are going to hire for a position. Social media could be a good use and or a bad use depending on how people treat the website they are utilizing. I believe social media is a good tool for communications, as it does not take long to receive a response. After doing further research on social media communication some people believe that social media’s effect on the ability to interact and communicate is visible throughout all areas. According to Paul, Booth, and PhD “social media certainly affects how we engage with one another across and ages”. Booth, states “ There has been shift in the way we communicate; rather than face-to-face interaction, we’re tending to prefer mediated communication he says, We’d rather email-than meet; we’d rather text than talk on the phone.” Booth also pointed out that studies have shown that people actually are
