What is fertilization? Fertilization - fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote (fertilized egg) 3. What are the gonads? What are gametes? –  Make sure you know the difference between gonads and gametes. Male: Testes Female: Ovaries 5. What are the  Secondary  sex organs of the male and female reproductive system? male – system of ducts, glands, penis  female - uterine tubes, uterus, and vagina 6. Be able to identify the organs that are internal and the organs that are external. Internal i. Male – 1. Testes, ducts ii. Female 1. uterine tubes, uterus, and vagina External i. Male – scrotum and penis ii. Female – clit, labia minora and majora 7. What developmental structure does the male reproductive tract develop from? Mesonephric duct 8. What developmental structure does the female reproductive tract develop from? Paramesonephric duct 9. How many chromosomes do all human cells except gametes have? 43 10. How many chromosomes do gametes have?
