I never played with a Barbie doll or G.I. Joe. My favorite childhood toys had to be some toys I got from McDonalds. I loved them to death, they were the only toys I really cared about and they were the last toys I ever played with. Back when I was a kid, Bakugan, Littlest Pet Shop, and Webkins were the toys everyone “had to have”. Those toys never really had an effect on my self-image, but I always imagined how cool it would be to be them. I gave them powers and always imagined how awesome it would be to have those powers. My older brother and I made our toys more than just toys, they all had a special role in our “universe”. When my brother stopped playing with me , it took me awhile to get over it, but other than that, it never really had a lasting effect on me. As for my older brother, it lasts even today. My brother wants to create amazing videos games after he graduates college and he got tons of ideas for games based on us playing with our toys. As strange as it may sound, he built upon our childish ideas and gave it a more realistic storyline. While I was mad at the time because he wouldn’t play with me anymore, I look back at it now and realize it impacted him in a positive way that will never fade. Looking at the essay, I believe you can look at a toy and think anything about it. While it does seem like Barbie lives this life of luxury, Barbie is also kind and loving which I believe are great character portrayals. I believe the overall purpose of Barbie is showing that girls can accomplish anything if they put their mind to it. I think the overall idea of Barbie is really good and I am not surprised it has not been banned.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
