Social structures: the organization of relationships at all levels of society, how groups of people arrange things EX: teacher does this, GSI's do that, students so that § Social structure is also how the goodies are distributed to people based off of that structure Wealth § Power § People in various positions § - Status: the position one holds in a given social system, social job title, we all have a lot of them A social position can be permanent: father, or temporary: pedestrian The position is not the person The behaviour can be more of a function of position than true personality § Positions can empower and constrain § Positions in social systems have a relationship with all the other positions in the system, they're all connected §
